Witness in the PRIDE Parade with fellow United Methodists!

We're excited that you're interested in participating in the 2023 National Capital Pride Parade with other United Methodists from the DMV! This is an opportunity to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and bear witness to God's radical welcome. For more than a decade, LGBTQIA+ United Methodists and allies have joined together in the parade to witness to God's love for all people.

The parade route is approximately 1.5 miles in the Dupont Circle/Logan Circle area. Exact time and location will be shared closer to the date to those who have registered, but participants can plan to join us mid-afternoon (around 3 p.m.) in the staging area. We will celebrate Holy Communion with other area United Methodists before starting the parade.

Pride Parade participants are encouraged to:

  • Use public transportation

  • Wear light-weight, breathable clothing and comfortable/sturdy walking shoes

  • Consider wearing a church or United Methodist affiliation t-shirt, or other solid-colored shirt

  • Bring a water bottle for use during the parade

  • Wear sunscreen and/or other UV protective gear

  • Check the forecast the day of and bring weather-appropriate gear

If you choose to participate, we encourage you to share this information with your congregation/organization and others who will be participating with you in the parade. Please start counting the total number of participants you anticipate bringing from your church (or family if you registered as an individual/family) to the parade and how many (if any) accessible riding seats your group will need. We will start collecting those estimates in the next couple of weeks.

We'll send out additional updates, including day-of volunteer recruitment, as we get closer to the day of the parade.

We're looking forward to celebrating and witnessing together on June 10th at the Parade!
